Description

Queen Tweed wool blankets are woven from two different yarns. The lengthwise strand, the warp, is natural white yarn. The crosswise strand, the weft, is the contrasting colour or colours.

No other fibre provides all the qualities of wool:– it has enduring warmth even when wet; is breathable; and is machine washable. Wool deters dust mites, mould and mildew growth, and is a renewable resource.

Blankets and other wool products from Topsy Farms are processed from selected fleeces that have been washed in gentle soaps to preserve the wool’s natural softness. The traditional woollen mill that washes all our fleeces avoids using sulphuric acid and other harsh chemicals that are regularly utilized in commercial wool processing. This is why our wool is not “prickly” – the fibres are smooth and are softened by the naturally occurring lanolin – not broken and barbed as in most commercial wool products.

Perfect as a traditional wedding gift, our blankets are also great for campers and cottagers alike, and for those who appreciate the comfort and style of wool in their homes. They are appropriate for use year-round: cool in the summer (pure wool “breathes” unlike man-made fibres) and warm in the winter (maintaining optimal body temperature). Topsy Farms blankets are unmatched in durability and bring you comfort, and natural richness to last a lifetime.

Our wool products are machine washable – if you follow our washing instructions.

Each Queen blanket features the Topsy Farms label – our sign that it is an authentic product and that it carries our Guarantee of Excellence.

We purchased this as a housewarming gift for our friend, and she loves it! The colours are soft and lovely and the wool is not itchy, but soft enough for my 18 month old to sleep on when we went to visit. It was well received and very appropriate for cold northern Ontario winters. Great Product!
