Farming vicariously is awesome

Having spent a few years volunteering on a city farm with a small flock of sheep, I have an understanding of what it’s like when lambs are not being fed or nourished enough by their mothers. It’s a lot of work even when there are 3-4 lambs. With Topsy Farms there are more! I like being part of the lamb adoption because I know how important it is to a farmer to have people on hand to do this work while they continue to accomplish the everyday farm work. Farming vicariously is pretty awesome. I don’t have a car and can’t get out to visit my little ones, but the photos are wonderful and I know they get great care. Colostrum and milk replacement for the bottles can be expensive, so the sponsorships make a huge difference. As someone who has bottle fed my share of lambs, thank you for helping with these babies.

Going to do this each and every year!

2021 was my second year of adopting a wee lamb, and as in 2020, the whole “adoption” went so well! “Lily” was born but her Mama did not take to her right away, so in stepped the Topsy folks with bottle feeding and love and attention. Sally kept in touch about her progress and sent pictures! I know it sounds mushy, but I have been following Topsy Farms now for a couple of years, and all I can say is that these people are real, true, honest, hard working and they seriously care about their critters and their land and each other! I cannot really start my day without reading their daily posts, which have become my touchstone, my gentle entry into my day…I will continue to adopt a lamb for as long as that is needed…I am away now for 6 months, but as soon as I am back in Canada, a visit to Topsy will be tops on my travel plans! And OH! Their wool blankets are incredible too!

It's always worth it

This was my first time doing the foster program but I was blown away with the love and care everyone put into making sure I was kept up to date, and with the lamb (Poppy) getting the attention she needed. Even with restrictions the chance to virtually meet Poppy was so unique and wonderful, and well worth doing every year. The amount of knowledge and passion for animals is so clear with Topsy that you know every dollar counts towards the animal. Everyone should experience it at least once!

A perennial favourite

The opportunity to foster a Topsy lamb is a gift to yourself and the farm. Not only is the experience an amazing learning path but the reward for the farm and the lambs who get a second chance is a bounty beyond measure. Connect to the farm with a foster lamb: we are in our 5 th year!
